Newport, Rhode Island

When we moved aboard Summer Kai in June 2017, we decided to spend the summer in Newport, RI. It was the perfect place to get familiar with living aboard! A beautiful and charming sailing community on the water, Newport has a lot to offer during the summer. It is a town passionate about sailing, and there are many anchorages, marinas, and mooring fields a couple hour sail away. There are many walking trails, parks, and a wonderful public library.

Our favorite short sail was Block Island, in fact we made a total of 4 trips there over the summer. Besides the beautiful beaches on the island, the best part for us was Aldo's Bakery Boat which brings hot coffee, breakfast sandwiches, and pastries directly to your boat in the harbor.
